Why The Santa Claus Lie Is An Abomination

It is commonly taught a lie to children that there is someone named "Santa Claus". The majority of children are not just taught to "pretend" Santa Claus exists, because pretending means that the person pretending actually knows in reality he does not in fact exist. That is what it means to pretend - is to know something is not real but act like it is for fun anyhow. This is not what is going on. Children are actually taught to believe that Santa is real - not just pretend he is. Let’s tell it like it is - children are blatantly lied to by their parents and others.
If you are a sincere believer in the Bible and follower of Christ, you will not partake in lying to your children or anyone else’s children in this way. It is written:
Exodus 23:7 "Keep yourself far from a false matter, and do not kill the innocent and the righteous, for I do not declare the wrong right. Leviticus 19:11 'Do not steal, do not lie, do not deceive one another. Psalms 34:13 Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. Proverbs 30:8 Remove falsehood and a lying word far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me my portion of bread; John 8:44 "You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you desire to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it. Revelation 21:8 "But as for the cowardly, and untrustworthy, and abominable, and murderers, and those who whore, and drug sorcerers, and idolaters, and all the false, their part is in the lake which burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death."Not only is blatantly lying in this way to children obviously against what the Bible teaches, let’s examine the details of this lie. The lie of Santa is that he:
- Lives in the north pole
- Has a team of elves who make presents
- Knows when you’re sleeping and awake
- Knows if you’ve been bad or good (so you better have been good, right?)
- Making His list and checking his twice (of those who are good or bad)
- Has a flying sleigh with a reindeer pack, and at the head of the pack one with a shiny nose
- Had to of used some kind of magic (abomination) to deliver presents to all children in one night all around the world and under their Christmas trees
- Punishes children and others who are bad by delivering lumps of coal instead of presents
The Santa Claus lie is taking attributes that should only be ascribed to our Creator (and some which are also ascribed to His Son Yahushua) and ascribing them to a character that doesn’t exist, along with mixing in magic which is an abomination in the Bible. There’s no such thing as Santa. There are no elves at the North Pole.
It is our Creator, Yahweh, who knows when you’re sleeping and knows when you’re awake; and who knows if you’ve been bad or good (Psalms 121:3, Proverbs 15:3). Trying to teach children Santa can "see them when they’re sleeping or awake" as if he’s omnipresent is idolatry because it’s taking that power which Yahweh and Yahushua have and saying Santa has it.
Isn’t it Yahushua who says "For where two or three are gathered together in My Name, there I am in their midst." (Matthew 18:20). How is that possible unless He can be in more than one place at once?
Similarly, Yahushua says in Revelation 2:2, 2:9, 2:13, 2:19, 3:1, 3:8, 3:15, "I know your works...". And it is written in Acts 10:42 "And He commanded us to proclaim to the people, and to witness that it is He who was appointed by Elohiym to be Judge of the living and the dead."
And it is written Psalms 62:12 "And kindness is Yours, O Yahweh; For You reward each one according to his work." And Revelation 22:12: "And see, I am coming speedily, and My reward is with Me, to give to each according to his work."
So it is Yahweh and Yahushua who can be in more than one place at once, and it is Yahweh and Yahushua who know if you’ve done right or wrong, and it is Yahweh and Yahushua who reward each according to His work.
It is our Creator, Yahweh, who has the Book of Life of the slain Lamb - and it is in that book which you want your name (Revelation 13:8). Do you think Yahushua wants you to teach children to fear if their name is on Santa’s list or not? Can you picture him saying to the little children who were brought up to him, "Children, Santa has a list and he’s checking it twice! Be good!"
No! Absolutely not! Yahushua would never condone teaching children such a lie! What an abomination this has become! Even if parents were "joking" with their children, this would still be a completely evil and inappropriate joke; but parents aren’t even joking. Parents are just lying to their children. They aren’t "pretending Santa exists for fun", they are perpetrating a lie that Santa is real.
But let’s suppose parents did tell their children Santa wasn’t real and just told them to play along to have fun and jokes. Regarding joking it is written:
Proverbs 26:18-19 Like a madman who throws sparks, arrows, and death,19 So is a man who deceived his neighbor, And says, "I was only joking!" Ephesians 5:3-4 But whoring and all uncleanness, or greed of gain, let it not even be named among you, as is proper among set-apart ones -
4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather thanksgiving.
Joking that someone other than our Creator knows when you’re asleep or awake, punishes those who are on his "naughty list", flies through the air, and delivers presents under trees is definitely coarse jesting and inappropriate for any true believer.
It is our Creator, Yahweh, who has flying chariots and flies through the air (Psalms 18:10, 2 Kings 2:11, Isaiah 66:15). It is our Creator, Yahweh, who punishes those who are bad (Isaiah 13:11).
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor shadow of turning.It is our Creator Yahweh who GIVES EVERY GOOD GIFT TO US... Not some IDOL named Santa.
And furthermore, magic is an abomination:
Leviticus 19:26 "Do not eat meat with the blood. Do not practice divination or magic." Deuteronomy 18:10-12 "Let no one be found among you who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices divination, or a user of magic, or one who interprets omens or a sorcerer,11 or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.
12 "For whoever does these are an abomination to Yahweh, and because of these abominations Yahweh your Elohiym drives them out from before you. Revelation 21:8 "But as for the cowardly, and untrustworthy, and abominable, and murderers, and those who whore, and drug sorcerers, and idolaters, and all the false, their part is in the lake which burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death."
The more you examine the Bible, the more the Santa Claus lie is seen for what it is: an idol placed in the hearts of children that promotes abominations and tries to give esteem to something other than our Creator Yahweh. This lie tries to take something that is false, and a lie, and attribute to it attributes of our Creator. This is nothing else than idolatry packaged with a bow and a laugh to make it look pretty and innocent. But don’t be deceived: there is nothing innocent about this lie.
Furthermore, below are testimonies from persons which clearly show how this abomination of the Santa Claus lie has caused damage---some of which is VERY serious in the eyes of Yahweh:

When at 9 I learned the truth, it TOTALLY ruined my trust in my parents, and it took me years to get over the complete devastation. If santa, the biggest god around, who my parents talked about and read about and sang about for years was not real ... then I didn't think I could believe anything that my parents said. I swore from my teens that I would not lie to my kids about santa.
Another woman named Ann wrote:
I get very angry when I hear parents say to their children......"Listen to me SANTA is watching". NO HE IS NOT! GOD is!!!! I believe this is a cop out to discipline their children. In my house we worship God
Ann goes on to say:
I would never want to lie to my kids about anything, especially something that takes away from my God. He is so much more then this "santa". If I lie what will they think of me when they find out the truth? I don't want that on me, I love them too much!
In response to someone stating, "I would never give up the fun we had pretending Santa was going to be coming around on X-Mas eve." another anonymous person wrote:
It is only pretending for an adult, children think it is real.
This is a common delusion that adults have I've noticed. They assume because they know the truth and they're playing this Santa game and pretending, that somehow their child is too. Your child is not playing or pretending with you; they think it's real. Society and parents are telling or implying to their children that Santa is real and brings presents and gifts, therefore a child thinks it's real, there is no pretending involved. A child thinks the same way about it as if you and society told them that Dan down the street has wings and flies around giving food to the hungry every Sunday and that is the truth. It's hard for them to wrap their head around, but since they are learning about their world still they accept it, and since the people they trust told them it is so, no more pretending that's what Dan does...Dan down the street really has wings and feeds the hungry children.
A man named Theodore wrote,
When I was *old*, like 8 and 9, I started seriously looking for documented evidence Santa was real. I was a geek and very short for my age, wore thick glasses and was an only child. I was made fun of EVERY day growing up, and my mother *used* that against me, saying, "The other kids are telling you Santa is fake because THEY'RE JUST MEAN! Trying to upset you! That's why they laugh."
She'd tell me this for years, once the kids started in on me. And because we were a family of Southern Baptists, belief in invisible stuff was taken seriously by everyone around me, and I knew no differently(!!).
When I really started questioning Santa, my parents would rig things, like get on top of the room above my window at night and make noises. My other parent would come in, exclaiming, "OH! OH! I HEAR SANTA'S SLEIGH ON THE ROOF! GO TO SLEEP QUICK!" or when I was younger, I found an elf boot that my mom ASSURED me was real, so real, we marched to the post office that day and MAILED it to the North Pole (I wrote the address and everything!) :O
The thing that *really* did it in for me, was when I was around 9, I would be watching the nightly news and they had the Santa Tracker, showing Santa's sleigh on a global map. I rationalized, "Well, if the news reporters are reporting that an actual craft is moving in the sky... it must be real! More evidence than Jesus, anyway, and I believe in him, too..."
When I eventually found out, at age 11 or 12, when they finally confessed, concerned that I had believed in the myth for 'too long'. I was immediately filled with rage toward both of my parents, for wantonly tricking me into believing in a fairy-tale they knew was false, and I also started doubting them on EVERYTHING, including (by the time I was 14) Jesus and God. I'm no longer an atheist but I also have no idea who / what / if anything is up there, either. (I'm a scientific spiritualist).
I have no intention of telling my future kids about Santa. I'll tell him he's just an imaginary device parents tell their kids, to make the kids feel better, or something.
This sad, horrific testimony from Theodore displays just how huge of an abomination the Santa Claus lie is. It is written:
Matthew 18:6 "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it is better for him that a millstone be hung around his neck, and that he be drowned in the depth of the sea. Mark 9:42 "And whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it is better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. Luke 17:2 "It would be better for him if a millstone is put around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.Theodore was, at one point in his life, a little one who BELIEVED in Yahushua. Yes - perhaps he knew the Messiah only by a name that is completely different - Jesus. And yes, it is quite possible his family did not observe the commandments or laws correctly (although we don’t know from this testimony one way or the other). But regardless of what name he knew the Messiah as, Theodore as a little child BELIEVED in the man who came and died for our sins, laid in the tomb, and was raised the third day.
And what did this lie do to his faith? It RUINED it. It RUINED Theodore. How many children are going to be damaged in this way by something before followers of Christ decide to turn away from it and have nothing to do with it? This lie is a CLEAR abomination and evil!

I was at a department store with my mother, and it was full of Easter baskets. I asked my mother why anyone needed to buy Easter baskets when the Easter bunny would just bring them one.
The next part of what they wrote has things I can’t repost, but the anonymous person basically said their mother said something that wasn’t true. They continued saying:
...and even at the time I could tell my mother was making up some kind of lie on the spot. I stormed out of the store and sat in the car, fuming. I want to make this very, very clear to parents: I NEVER TRULY TRUSTED MY PARENTS AGAIN. That was the day I knew for a fact that parents (and other authority figures, for that matter) were liars. It was not "a fun and innocent game" to me. I felt humiliated that my parents had continually and deliberately lied to me for their own amusement and had taken advantage of my ignorance. When we got home I marched over to my best friend's house -- I knew that honesty was right and lying was wrong, and I felt it was my duty to let her know that she was being deceived. In my five-year-old heart I was sure I was doing the right thing, but my friend's father responded by spanking ME and scolding me for "lying" to my friend. He told my friend that Santa *was* real and told her that I was a "brat" for saying otherwise.

When I asked my dad about this he told me that he had been told the Santa story as if it was real and when he was 8, he found out it wasn't true from his older sisters and he felt very awful and betrayed and remembers thinking 'ok what else have they told me that isn't true? About the world, himself'. It really upset him and he didn't want his kids to have that experience
I can relate personally to this feeling of, "What else have they told me that isn't true?". When I was 19 years old, someone in one of the highest positions within the international church I was raised in and taught from a young age was "the ONLY true church" issued a public letter making claims of wrong things done by others in positions of authority also within the church.
This shook me to the core at the age of 19. I had been raised to believe, "THIS IS IT! AND THERE’S NO HOPE OUTSIDE OF THIS!" I wondered to myself... just as Sue’s Dad in the above testimony wondered, "What else have they told me that isn’t true?"
I wondered... if these are the men who raised me, how do I know that I believe what I believe because it’s the truth or because someone just told it to me? I prayed to the "God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob" as I saw written so many times in my NIV Bible, "I know a wicked generation asks for a sign but how am I supposed to have the kind of faith I’m supposed to have if I was raised this way?" or something like that... that may not be exactly what I said, but something along those lines.
I received a sign through a dream and then I went looking into various religions and studied all of them searching to see where the Creator was, and thankfully having Proverbs and Ecclesiastes as my favorite books growing up, and probably His mercy to help me through things, my final conclusion was that no other written books outside the Bible had that kind of wisdom, and He showed me none of those religions were Him - none of them had my Creator in them. They were not true.
My journey from there to where I am today is a whole other testimony for another time/document/place, but I say all this to say I relate to Sue’s Dad who felt... "What else did they lie to me about?"

I also suspect this is why churches are having a problem because you cannot try and get kids to believe in God and Santa because I think many make the logical jump that well Santa is false so God must be false....since I’ve seen neither and both swear to me it’s true and both get wrapped up under the same xmas holiday....God too must be false
Kayne went on to say further:
On a Personal note at the time my 11 year old niece whose birthday is xmas found out santa was fake via a friend and tried to argue it back to the friend...she later shows up crying (literal tears) to her parents. I think xmas and by effect her birthday (as they are the same day) got ruined.
Since then over the past two years I’ve heavily evaluated my stance on this holiday and decided....I want to teach whatever children I might have one day good honest morals...and yes even christian morals as I am a christian and I cannot do that and teach them Santa is real.
Kayne went on to say further:
Furthermore xmas has turned into SHOP SHOP SHOP TAKE ON MORE DEBT and a vague mention of Christ here and there. So I see no reason to bring that into my home. None at all.
In fact I really do feel dirty celebrating this holiday again this year.
Maybe what Kayne is feeling... is that the Spirit is impressing upon Kayne the uncleanness of the "Christmas celebration". You can pile up a bunch of rotting corpses of dead mice and spray them with perfume and cover them with roses, but they’re still dead mice underneath it all. You can make believe Santa is just a joke and fun and games and completely innocent, but the figure of Santa Claus as children are lied to about today is very clearly an unclean abomination from Satan and involvement with Santa is akin to idolatry.
